Vincent van Ojen, Still Life with Irises, 1992, Woodcut
Vincent van Ojen uses nature and landscapes as a source of inspiration for his work. He combines different natural elements to create new compositions. There is a certain artistic technique Van Ojen often uses, which is represented vastly in the NN Art Collection. He was the first to graduate from a Dutch art academy specialising in this technique. What is this technique called?
Vincent van Ojen is a master of the woodcut, which is a technique in printmaking. An artist carves an image into the surface of a block of wood which leaves parts to be printed higher than parts that are not to be printed. The raised areas are then inked and pressed into paper.
