For Crossing Europe, Poike Stomps travelled to 42 European countries and photographed people crossing busy intersections in cities across the continent. What was the inspiration for this series?
At first, Poike Stomps only photographed the intersection at the Muntplein in Amsterdam, which he would pass regularly. He noticed that the direct and brash culture of the Netherlands shone through in his pictures. This urged him to research if this would be the case for different cities in Europe.
